SANTA ANA, Calif. - From July 14 to August 16, landscape photographs by Irvine resident Richard Pradenas will be on display as part of John Wayne Airport’s (JWA) Community Focus Space Program (CFS). These photographs can be viewed on the Departure (upper) Level near security screening areas in Terminals A, B and C, and on the Arrival (lower) Level adjacent to Baggage Carousels 1 and 4.
"Mr. Pradenas perfectly captures the native beauty of California’s grasslands," says Board Chairwoman Lisa Bartlett. "We are fortunate to have a world-class airport that highlights our community’s many talented artists through our Arts Program."
While pursuing his favorite outdoor activities Richard Pradenas developed an appreciation for nature and the inspiring landscapes he would come across on his visits to The Carrizo Plain, the largest native grassland remaining in California. “On several visits I’ve seen only a few kit foxes and rattlesnakes but no other people. It is rare to have such a beautiful and diverse place all to oneself and the silence.” The exhibit is a collection of tranquil landscapes from October of 2006 and April of 2010, illustrating the diversity of beauty on the plain.
Pradenas graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. While his professional career is in a corporate and technical space (developing fingerprint biometric products), he dedicates his free time to his passion for photography in the opposite environment: nature.
Upcoming Community Focus Space Program artists include Ruth Yuhas (August 16 - September 15).
