Bringing to life everyday images that may otherwise go unseen, the simplicity of nature, animals, and landscapes, as captured by photographer Devin Grady, become intricate imagery through the use of his artistic technique. Grady’s artwork “Nature Takes Flight,” is on display in the John Wayne Airport Community Focus Space from June 18 – July 18, 2019.

“Travelers at John Wayne Airport are sure to enjoy Devin Grady’s photographs of avian wildlife that reside near the Airport,” said Orange County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Lisa Bartlett. “Next time you are traveling through, take a moment to view and admire his exhibit that reflects the natural beauty surrounding Orange County.”

Grady pursued both academic and artistic endeavors throughout his formative years working as a professional photographer and for the local newspaper and computer repair shop in the small town of Fredonia, New York where he grew up. This early experience exposed him to the technical and artistic aspects of photography in both film and digital media.

“In my photography, I often try to capture something that may otherwise be missed. Fleeting scenes, unusually close views, and surprising angles can all be captured to provide visual stimulation and aesthetic pleasure in the image,” said Grady.

As a photographer, software engineer, and general maker of things, Grady works in macro, street, portrait, and astrophotography. Since 2015, he has been in more than 15 juried art shows for photography across the US with several Best of Show Awards to his credit. Most recently, his work “Evening at a Mountain Lake,” was on display January 2019 at Black Box Gallery in Portland, Oregon. Upcoming Community Focus Space artists include painter Rosemary Vasquez-Tuthill (July 19 – August 15) and mixed media artist Fernando Del Rosario (August 16 – September 17).
