JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT POSTS MAY 2011 STATISTICS (Revised)**
SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport decreased in May 2011 as compared to May 2010. In May 2011, the Airport served 734,671 passengers, a decrease of 0.6% when compared to the May 2010 passenger traffic count of 739,421.
Commercial aircraft operations decreased 2.0%, while Commuter aircraft operations decreased 13.9% when compared to the levels recorded in May 2010.
Total aircraft operations decreased in May 2011 as compared to the same month in 2010. In May 2011, there were 23,254 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a decrease of 3.9% when compared to 24,187 total aircraft operations in May 2010.
General aviation activity, which accounted for 70% of the total aircraft operations during May 2011, decreased 4.4% when compared to May 2010.
John Wayne Airport (SNA) is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange, and serves approximately nine million passengers annually.
