  • John Wayne Airport And Its Mutual-Aid Partners Conduct Successful Mass Casualty Drill (04/11/2014)

    Earlier today, John Wayne Airport (JWA) conducted a full-scale mass casualty drill involving more than 500 volunteers, observers and emergency responders. Staged on the east side of the airfield, south of the Riley Terminal, the drill allowed Airport officials and emergency responders to test and practice operational capabilities in response to a simulated crash involving a Boeing 737 and a general aviation aircraft.

    John Wayne Airport (JWA) conducts a full-scale mass casualty drill every three years as required by the Federal Aviation Administration. The purpose of the drill is to test and practice the operational capability of the Airport's emergency management system in a real-time environment. As a result, there will be significant emergency response personnel and equipment in the vicinity of the Airport. JWA will continue normal airport operations during the drill.

    A selection of ceramic tile artworks by Laguna Beach artist Mike Tauber are on exhibit April 8 through May 8, 2014, in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal as part of John Wayne Airport's Community Focus Space Program. Tauber's works can be seen on the Departure (upper) Level near the security screening areas in Terminals A, B and C and on the Arrival (lower) Level adjacent to Baggage Carousels 1 and 4.

    Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in February 2014 as compared to February 2013. In February 2014, the Airport served 671,858 passengers, an increase of 2.9% when compared to the February 2013 passenger traffic count of 653,118.

    John Wayne Airport (JWA) announces the results of an Economic Impact Study of Airport operations for calendar year 2012. The study, conducted by InterVISTAS Consulting LLC, measures the direct, indirect and induced economic impacts generated by JWA in Orange County and three neighboring counties (Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino).

    Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in December 2013 as compared to December 2012. In December 2013, the Airport served 789,342 passengers, an increase of 7.3% when compared to the December 2012 passenger traffic count of 735,626.
