SANTA ANA, Calif. - John Wayne Airport Communications Operator Elizabeth Wells has received the Walter Knott Award—an award given by the Orange County Tourism Council to a tourism industry professional who best exemplified outstanding customer service in 2006. The Council recognized Ms. Wells and others at its annual Service Excellence Awards event held at the Hilton Anaheim on April 10, 2007. “We’re delighted that Elizabeth has been chosen to receive this prestigious award,” said Alan L. Murphy, Airport Director. “She is a great example of JWA’s focus on customer service - always ready, willing, and able to help a traveler who might need a little extra assistance.” Wells, a Yorba Linda resident, has helped reunite families, gave a passenger her walking shoes in order to pass security requirements and make her flight, and bought a stranded soldier a bus ticket to his destination in Barstow. Her co-workers and supervisor call Wells a team player, praise the way she pitches in with employee projects, and view her as a real “superstar.” -###- ATTENTION EDITORS: A photo of Elizabeth Wells is available upon request. John Wayne Airport (SNA) is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange, and serves more than 9.6 million passengers annually.
