JOHN WAYNE
AIRPORT LAUNCHES Santa Ana, CA – Today, John Wayne Airport (SNA) announced the launch of its Internet flight tracking system on its Web site, www.ocair.com. AirportMonitor, a Web-based tool developed by Megadata Corporation. Flight tracks are taken from actual radar data with a 10-minute delay for security purposes. The public will be able to view graphic depictions of air traffic from a 5-mile to an 80-mile range around John Wayne Airport. "The AirportMonitor system will provide the public with an accurate and realistic view of the air space around their communities," said Alan L. Murphy, Airport Director. "I believe that providing this great technology will help educate the public as to how airlines and air traffic operate in the air space and the Airport looks forward to utilizing the system to its fullest capabilities." Planes are depicted on a map of the area, and each aircraft is color-coded to indicate John Wayne Airport arrivals and departures, Long Beach Airport (LGB) overflights, and overflights to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This new tool will give Web site visitors access to the general location and traffic flow of JWA area flights. AirportMonitor is user friendly and is designed to be fast and simple to use, even on a regular Internet dial-up. It requires little to no computer expertise, and presents information simply and clearly. – SNA – |
