JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT ACCESS

ROADS REMAIN OPEN

Santa Ana, CA – In response to the Department of Homeland Security increasing the Advisory level to "Orange" (High Alert), John Wayne Airport (JWA) Operations and Airport Police Services are working closely with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to ensure the Airport is in full compliance with current federal security directives.

At this time, John Wayne Airport will not be implementing the closure of two access roads and random inspections of vehicles entering the Airport roadway system. All four access roads into the Airport will remain open: Michelson Drive entrance from MacArthur Boulevard, direct access from the I-405 Freeway at MacArthur Boulevard, Campus Drive to the south of the airfield, and the dedicated SR-55 Freeway off-ramp to the north of the airfield.

However; JWA is prepared to implement the closure of two of the four access roads and implement vehicle inspection checkpoints if additional federal security directives are received. While some of the increased security measures in place are visible to the public, more sensitive procedures are not.

All travelers are advised to check with JWA prior to arrival to verify the status of access roads and parking availability by calling an Airport Operator at 949.252.5200 or visiting our Web site at www.ocair.com.
