JWA CELEBRATES THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE THOMAS F. RILEY TERMINAL

On Saturday, September 16, 2000, John Wayne Airport is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal by thanking its passengers with free parking for the day and offering give-a-ways*. The public is invited to come to the Airport to participate in the following activities:

• Free Polaroid photo* with “John Wayne”
   
• View the JENNIES2JETS2000 Exhibit featuring historical and future aircraft including a scale model biplane suspended from the ceiling over the baggage carousels (a first time feature)
   
• Receive gifts including JWA luggage tags, Jelly Bellys and blow-up planes
   
• Receive discounted coupons from selected tenants
   
• See Operations, Sheriff, Maintenance and Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting vehicles
   
• Enter into an opportunity drawing to win airline tickets and other prizes (please see attached for exact times and location of drawings)

“Since its doors opened ten years ago, the Thomas F. Riley Terminal has served over 70.9 million passengers and is one of the most admired facilities in the world,” said Alan L. Murphy, Airport Director. “With this celebration, we want to show our appreciation to the residents of Orange County for their support and patronage.”

The JENNIES2JETS2000 Exhibit is a comprehensive exhibition of the history of Orange County aviation as written by Vi Smith in “From Jennies to Jets – The Aviation History of Orange County.”  This display features exhibits including historical bi-planes and space shuttles such as a model of the Apollo 11.  A cut-away view of a 747 tail-rudder actuator is also on display.
