New Taxicab Service Begins Service Today

Santa Ana, CA – American Livery, Inc. dba American Taxi will be the exclusive provider of taxicab service for John Wayne Airport (JWA) effective 5 p.m. today.  American Taxi will initially have 30 compressed natural gas vehicles to provide taxicab service to deplaning passengers.  An additional 37 taxis are available on a need-to-use basis.

"In the best interest of the traveling public, John Wayne Airport expedited a contract with American Taxi to continue taxi service," said Alan L. Murphy, Airport Director.  "The Airport is making every effort to minimize any impact to our patrons during this transition period."

Since 1996, A Taxi Cab has been the sole provider of taxi service at JWA.  Due to A Taxi Cab's failure to provide acceptable proof of insurance as required by its contract with the County of Orange, and in the best interest of the traveling public, A Taxi Cab is no longer authorized to operate at the Airport.

No major inconveniences to the traveling public are expected.  John Wayne Airport will have extra personnel and volunteers on hand to assist passengers.  The Airport will continue to have ample ground transportation services including shuttle services for travelers.
