Holiday Festival to Be Enjoyed by Travelers

Santa Ana, CA – John Wayne Airport announces its Eighth Annual Holiday Festival featuring a Student Art Contest, strolling carolers, a handbell choir, barbershop quartet, singing harpist and many more talented performers. Holiday performances begin on Saturday, December 13 and will continue through Wednesday, December 24, 1997. A copy of the performance schedule is attached.

"Our much anticipated Holiday Festival is a real crowd pleaser," says O. B. Schooley, Airport Director. "Our talented musicians bring holiday cheer to the terminal and smiles to the faces of our busy travelers."

New this year is a disklavier piano donated for use by Yamaha Corporation. The digital grand piano will be located in different areas throughout the terminal for the enjoyment of all airport travelers.

Kicking off this year’s holiday performances is the annual Student Art Contest and reception. More than 3,400 students from schools throughout Orange County submitted artwork based on the theme, "Air Sports in the Olympics." Winners of the contest will be announced at a reception hosted by McDonald’s and John Wayne Airport on Sunday, December 7, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. opposite Gate 7 on the Departure Level of the terminal. Contestant artwork will be on display throughout the terminal from December 5, 1997 through January 11, 1998.
