JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT POSTS SEPTEMBER STATISTICS

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in September 2009 as compared to September 2008. In September 2009, the Airport served 709,101 passengers, an increase of 3.1% when compared to the September 2008 passenger traffic count of 687,603.

Commercial Carrier flight operations increased 5.0%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations decreased 10.7% when compared to the same levels recorded in September 2008.

Total aircraft operations increased in September 2009 as compared to the same month in 2008. In September 2009, there were 18,133 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), an increase of 0.2% when compared to 18,098 total aircraft operations in September 2008.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 57% of the total aircraft operations during September 2009, decreased 1.9% when compared to September 2008.

John Wayne Airport (SNA) is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange, serves nearly nine million passengers annually and is governed by the five-member Orange County Board of Supervisors.
