JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT POSTS MARCH 2009 STATISTICS

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport decreased in March 2009 as compared to March 2008. In March 2009, the Airport served 713,196 passengers, a decrease of 13.0% when compared to the March 2008 passenger traffic count of 819,638.

Commercial Carrier flight operations decreased 9.7%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations increased 6.6% when compared to the same levels recorded in March 2008.

Total aircraft operations decreased in March 2009 as compared to the same month in 2008. In March 2009, there were 18,177 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a decrease of 34.7% when compared to 27,821 total aircraft operations in March 2008.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 57.0% of the total aircraft operations during March 2009, decreased 46.4% when compared to March 2008.

John Wayne Airport (SNA) is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange, serves nearly nine million passengers annually and is governed by the five-member Orange County Board of Supervisors.
