BUSY FALL EXPECTED AT JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT
More Than 2.5 Million Passengers Traveled Through the Airport this Summer Season

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Labor Day weekend is the traditional end of summer travel season at John Wayne Airport (JWA). This summer JWA experienced record-breaking passenger counts – serving nearly three million passengers between June and August 2007. Though vacation travel slows down in the fall, business travel peaks this time of year and we anticipate the months ahead will continue to be busy at JWA.

“The airport is busier than ever and we appreciate our passenger’s patience as we continue to grow,” said John Wayne Airport Director Alan L. Murphy. “We are looking forward to providing more parking and expanded facilities to the traveling public in the next few years.”

Due to travel patterns unique to this Airport, parking lots usually fill during peak travel periods. Beginning this holiday weekend – August 31 to September 3 – passengers are encouraged to consider using alternate methods of transportation in getting to and from the Airport including shuttle and taxi services, public transportation, friends or family.

In an effort to make the holiday weekend travel as comfortable and stress free as possible, JWA offers the following additional travel tips:

  • Pack according to airline’s “1+1” policy (one carry-on and one small bag)

  • Know the current security requirements by visiting http://www.tsa.gov/press/index.shtm or calling TSA customer service at 866.289.9673.

  • Arrive at least two hours prior to your flight departure time.

JWA is in the early stages of an Airport Improvement Program that will add a third Terminal with six additional gates; more security screening checkpoints; 2,500 additional parking spaces and generally more room for passengers to move about the Terminal. The Improvement Program is expected to be complete in 2011. To learn more, log on to www.ocair.com/improvements.
