JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT PLANS FOR BUSY
FOURTH OF JULY
SANTA ANA, Calif. – John Wayne Airport (JWA) officials are expecting a higher-than-normal passenger travel beginning Friday, June 29 through July 9 in anticipation of the Fourth of July holiday. Because the holiday falls mid-week this year, the Airport and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are anticipating several days of additional passenger travel and will be increasing staff in the lobbies and screening lines to assist passengers. Passengers should plan to arrive at least two (2) hours prior to their flight departure time in order to check in, go through the security screening process and get to their gate. Parking lots often become full during peak travel periods so JWA encourages travelers to consider using alternative methods of transportation to and from the Airport, including shuttles, taxi service, public transportation, or family and friends. Passengers can check parking availability by calling 949.252.5200. As a reminder, TSA limits the carrying of liquids, gels and aerosols through security screening at 3 oz. each, all that must be contained in one, quart-size, clear zip-top baggie. Other liquid items should be packed in checked luggage. To learn more about these regulations and other travel tips, visit www.ocair.com or www.tsatraveltips.com. Don’t forget, fireworks are prohibited and should be left at home. In 2006, more than 260,000 passengers passed through John Wayne Airport from Monday, June 27 – Tuesday, July 5. The highest one-day count was 36,987 passengers compared to an average summer day of about 28,000 passengers. -###- John Wayne Airport (SNA) is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange and is the only commercial-service airport in Orange County, California.
