JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT EXPECTS BUSY MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY

SANTA ANA, Calif. - John Wayne Airport (JWA) officials are expecting a busy Memorial Day weekend.  This holiday traditionally marks the beginning of the summer travel season and is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. The heaviest airport traffic is expected on Friday (May 25) and Tuesday (May 29).

Passengers should plan to arrive at least two (2) hours prior to their flight departure time.  JWA also encourages travelers to consider using alternative methods of transportation to and from the Airport, including shuttles, taxi service, public transportation, or family and friends.

“JWA anticipates heavy passenger loads over the Memorial Day holiday,” said Airport Director Alan Murphy. “We encourage anyone traveling by air this weekend to acquaint themselves with TSA’s security screening and baggage regulations and to get to the airport early.”

In 2006, JWA served 158,222 passengers between Thursday, May 25 and Tuesday, May 30. The highest one-day passenger count of the holiday weekend was Friday, May 26 with 33,631 passengers traveling through the Airport.
