John Wayne Airport (SNA)
Pilot Information
IMPORTANT NOTICES:
ATTENTION AIRFIELD TENANTS!
Beginning Monday, April 27, 2009, the orange-colored vehicle hangtag will no longer be valid gate access media. Authorized AOA tenants and customers wishing to enter the AOA through the Dove or Paularino vehicle gates must use the SNA yellow ID badge and PIN (unless they are in possession of another SNA badge type with gate access). AOA yellow badge holders are not required to show their driver and pilot licenses upon gate entry.
REMINDER:
All parties at commercial airports with unescorted access authority to the Airport Operations Area (AOA) are required to submit to a Security Threat Assessment (STA) and receive an airport-issued photo identification badge.
(TSA Security Directive 1542-04-08F)
Forms:
Forms MUST be printed double-sided for submission.
Runway Safety
Pilots are encouraged to refresh their airport operation knowledge on various aspects of runway safety.
Remain-Over-Night (RON) Relocation
As a result of the planned South RON construction, air carrier aircraft will need to park overnight in an area bounded by Taxiways Alpha and Charlie, between Hotel and Juliet. Runway 19L/1R will be unavailable from 1930 hours through 0830 hours (local time) for take-offs and landings. Runway 19L/1R will be utilized as a taxiway and will be unavailable throughout the duration of this project during these hours, seven days a week. During the construction period, Runway 19R/1L will be available to accommodate arriving and departing aircraft when Runway 19L/1R is unavailable. We anticipate being able to lift these restrictions in late 2010. (View map ...)

Pilots not requesting radar service beyond the surface area of the Class C airspace may state “local” when requesting their departure route. (Example: “John Wayne Clearance, Cessna N739MB, west-side parking, Mesa Local Departure.”) Local radar service will be terminated upon exiting the 5 nm surface area of the Class C airspace. Pilots must then remain clear of all other regulated airspace, including the upper tier of the Class C airspace.
