VOLANS Quick Guide
Five main sections control how aircraft operations can be viewed:
Flight Data - View flight tracks in near-real time (10 minute delay) or play data from a previous time period.
View - View flight tracks in 3D. The default is to an overhead 3D view, but the view can be changed to a pilot’s perspective. Click on the aircraft of interest; a yellow circle will appear around the selected aircraft. Click 'View from the CockPit' to view that flight from the pilot’s perspective.
Maps - Select either a satellite or street map option.
Lines - Toggle on/off the flight track and/or the 'curtain' (shaded area between the aircraft and the ground to show depth). The bottom edge of the curtain helps give an approximate location of the aircraft flight track on the ground.
Tools - Zoom in/out, pan, rotate, tilt and reset map default location. The tools on the control panel allow the user to toggle on/off the mileage rings, noise monitor locations, flight information and find an address using 'Locator'.

Clicking the VOLANS image will launch the application which will begin showing flight tracks within a few seconds. These flights are delayed by approximately 10 minutes as indicated by the date and time displayed in the lower right corner of the map window.
