NONSTOP SERVICE BEGINS TO CALGARY FROM JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT
Giddy up, WestJet's inaugural flight departs June 13
with the help of some special friends
SANTA ANA, Calif. - John Wayne Airport, Tourism Calgary, Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, Travel Alberta and WestJet celebrate new, nonstop international service from Orange County to Calgary, Alberta, Canada today.
To kick off the inaugural flight and a summer of adventure in Calgary, Cowboy David Cowley and his trusty steed Spencer, 'checked in' for WestJet's first flight. Later, at the gate, a few special guests stopped by to take photos and say 'howdy' to the passengers arriving from Calgary.

John Wayne Airport, WestJet and tourism staff celebrated in true western spirit, wearing cowboy hats and bandanas, as they distributed special promotional and give-away items to passengers traveling at John Wayne Airport that day.

The celebrating continued at the gate as Orange County partners welcomed arriving passengers from Calgary. Knott's Berry Farm's Snoopy and Charlie Brown were on hand to provide a friendly Orange County welcome to the adults and children alike.
WestJet - a pioneer of low-cost flying in Canada - began service at John Wayne Airport in May with daily nonstop flights to Vancouver, British Columbia and now offers daily nonstop service to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Passengers traveling south from Canada to the United States will be able to take advantage of the customs preclearance system in Canada.
