JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT TO CONDUCT A FULL-SCALE EMERGENCY DRILL ON FRIDAY, APRIL 8, 2011

SANTA ANA, Calif. - John Wayne Airport will conduct a simulated aircraft incident on Friday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. This is a drill and is intended to provide training opportunities for JWA Operations, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, Airport Police Services, and mutual aid emergency response agencies. There is a chance the public may notice emergency response vehicles at and around the Airport during this time. This is only a drill.

"Safety is a top priority for John Wayne Airport," said Jim Ellis, John Wayne Airport Manager of Emergency Preparedness. "Drills like this are a key component of emergency planning and preparedness."

Required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), commercial airports must conduct a full-scale drill every three years to maintain certification called Part 139 Airport Certification. In intervening years, airports are required to conduct tabletop exercises to review emergency response plans with mutual aid partners.

Note to editors/photographers: No access for media will be provided for the drill. For additional information or photos following the event, media may contact Jenny Wedge at jwedge@ocair.com.

John Wayne Airport (SNA) is a self-supporting enterprise owned and operated by the County of Orange with ten airlines offering service to twenty nonstop destinations from Orange County.
